I have been a member of BNI - Trident Chapter since June 2004. I am Managing Director of a Janitorial Company, which has grown since my involvement with BNI. With BNI, my business has grown by as much as 45% and I have built so many great relationships and have met so many people of diverse backgrounds that have helped my Company strive to excellence. I have always been a giver, but the BNI concept of "Givers Gain" opened a whole new meaning for me. I truly am happy that I joined, but a little sad that I didn't know of BNI before June 2004. If you want to succeed in life and have the greatest Sales force in the business, join BNI, work with the system, and your life and business with greatly improve.

I am a Civil Attorney in the Bridgetown Chapter. I have been a member for over 3 years. I have observed that having served on the Leadership and Support Teams, I have had to learn to multi-task more efficiently in my job as an attorney. How you may ask? BNI is an organisation with a fantastic structure. It has rules and policies and gives out a lot of information so its members can benefit from their membership. I had to be able to juggle my role in BNI along with my job to achieve my objectives. I had to organise myself more efficiently to perform my role well in BNI and in my profession.

Serving in my chapter as President, V.President and on the Membership Committee, was an honor and I would encourage every member to volunteer to serve as they will have a better understanding of the BNI structure.

Testimony: Dr. Sharon Harvey

When I joined BNI in June 2005, I quickly realized that in my field of psychiatry, as practiced within a clinical setting, I would be hard-pressed to find other persons to form a Power Team. In fact there were none! A Power Team of "one" was a lonely place to be! Through the interactions with other BNI members, and listening to their business related approaches, the idea of shifting my focus to developing strategies for the workplace instead of the clinical setting began to take shape.

As the text of my 60 second presentations gradually reflected this shift, a Power Team began to materialize, where none previously existed! Now I had linkages with a Human Recourses Strategy Developer, a Recruitment and Development Trainer and a Public Relations and Communications Consultant. Once I had become open to the concept, I also discovered areas for cooperation with the Physiotherapist in the chapter.

This has highlighted for me, the “power” of developing Power Teams, even if one does not immediately hit you. Givers Gain!

Trident Chapter

Fifteen years ago, I visited South Africa as part of a Barbados Trade Mission to seek business relations in that part of the world.

However, since having membership in BNI for just over one year, JER was able, not only to be in direct contact with South Africa again, but also to establish our first strategic alliance with BNI member Melanie Kidson of the Cresta Chapter in Johannesburg, who heads up the PR/Marketing agency in South Africa “Kidson Marketing Communications”, and we'll be doing some global projects together.

My company has also been able to establish a similar relationship with a counterpart agency in India –“Creativzt Communications,” referred by BNI National Director in India - Niraj Shah.

It's BNI for me... It works... but we've also got to work it.
